It Is Okay to Feel a Bit Nostalgic As Shinedown and Godsmack Hit the Road Once Again

This summer, rock fans should prepare to be rocked hard when the Shinedown and Godsmack’s co-headlining summer tour hits The Pavilion. Shinedown rose to prominence in the 2000s for their brand of gritty rock combined with melodic embellishments, hailing from Jacksonville, Florida, U.S. In the wake of bands such as Creed and Nickelback, rock witnessed somewhat of a resurgence in the 2000s, aided later by Shinedown.

Originally comprised of vocalist Brent Smith, guitarist Jasin Todd, bassist Brad Stewart, and drummer Barry Kersh, the band inked a recording deal with Atlantic Records soon after forming. Shinedown’s debut album “Leave a Whisper” was released in July 2003, immediately introducing the band’s melodic rock sensibilities to a large audience. Featuring the singles “Fly from the Inside”, “Burning Bright”, and “45”, the album charted at No. 53 on the Billboard 200, and has since been certified platinum.

Godsmack is an American alternative metal/hard rock American band originally from Lawrence, Massachusetts. The current lineup consists of Sully Ema, Robbie Merrill, Tony Rombola and Shannon Larkin. In February 1995, Sully Ema decided to start a band with Lee Richards on guitar, Robbie Merrill on bass and Tommy Stewart on drums, which they initially called The Scam.

The name didn’t stick long, as they changed the name to Godsmack after they recorded their first demo. In 1996 Richards and Stewart left the band and were replaced by Tony Rombola and Joe D’Arco. For a few years the band would tour up and down the east coast, until in 1998 they signed with Universal/Republic Records. Come see them perform live on Saturday, August 11!
